Summary Of Chapter One

There and Back Again, The Hobbit


It was just and average day for Mr. Baggins in the shire, he started his day just as he normally would. By having a cup of tea and enjoying himself a nice tobacco filled pipe. But this was the day that would change his life forever. As Bilbo sat down in front of his hobbit hole, a strange figure in a grey cloak came for the. Bilbo greeted the strange man, not realizing it was his old friend Gandalf The Grey. After much an unusual conversation Bilbo invited him for tea tomorrow, wishing he hadn’t he quickly closed the door. The next morning Bilbo was startled by the door bell, leaving him unsure of what to expect next.

Summary of Chapter three

There and Back Again, The Hobbit

Mutton roasts to an open flame, three monstrous trolls sit around eating. Bilbo stealthy tried to pick one of there pockets. Bilbo gets caught and soon enough all 13 of them are bagged and sacked. While the trolls are deciding weather to kill them now or later. Gandalf cones to there rescue and stalls enough until the sun comes out and they all turned to stone, then they kept on going through the mountain. They found a cave but wasn’t sure if they were alone.

Summary of Chapter Four

There and Back Again, The Hobbit

Bilbo woke up in terror, he brought himself to his feet and drew his sword out. He crept down and down further into the heart of the mountain. He came upon a lake, icy cold. Where he met a creature, Gollum was his name. they finally agreed on a game of riddles. If Gollum wins he will eat Bilbo and if Bilbo wins Gollum has to show him the way out, lets hope Bilbo wins!

Summary of Chapter Five

There and Back Again, The Hobbit

Running as fast as his little hobbit feet took him. Bilbo ran down the side of the mountain , hiding in the brush of the tree’s . He heard voices and sure enough it was Gandalf and all 13 dwarves. They walked and walked and finally they rested. Out of the darkness a terrifying howl, answered by multiple other ones. Wargs surrounded them around trees and soon enough goblins too. Lighting the trees on fire, just in time a swooping shadow came down from the stars

Summary of Chapter Six

There and Back Again, The Hobbit

We all wake up just before we get nabbed into sacks, Blindfolded and not having a clue to where we were going. Bilbo slipped in his ring just in time, so they had no idea he was there. As all the dwarves got locked into there cells. Bilbo stole the keys from the sleeping servant and snuck every single one of the dwarves out of there cells unnoticed. He stuffed them all one by one into barrels. They all wake up with a slight headache from the nauseous ride.

Summary of Chapter Seven

There and Back Again, The Hobbit

Bilbo climbed out of his tightly fitting barrel in agony. He helped Thorin and the others get out of there major discomforts. They decided it would be wise to travel to the near by village to strengthen and get prepared for there most difficult task. When they arrived they joined in on a feast, that praised Thorin’s return to his home land.

Summary of Chapter Eight

There and Back Again, The Hobbit


Today was the last day that they would sleep in soft beds for awhile. It was the day they all had been anticipating, they were going to the mountain! They packed up there gear, and arrived at there destination three days later. They spent hours upon hours looking for the secret passage that Gandalf said existed. After much exhaustion Bilbo has finally found it!

Summary of Chapter Nine

There and Back Again, The Hobbit

After all the tools that the dwarves could carry, they went up to the secret passage. Not one of there tools could pry the door open. Handles splintered, blades dulled beyond repair. They soon all ran out of tools. What could they do to get inside, how could a door be so strong. Will they make Bilbo go through the front gates with his ring on, hoping that the dragon couldn’t smell his fear.

Summary of Chapter 10

There and Back Again, The Hobbit

After further attempts with there broken tools the dwarves began to talk about an idea. There idea was that Bilbo was to scout out ahead into the front gates. Bilbo was to use his magical ring to turn invisible and see if the surroundings were safe. Will the dragon see Bilbo or possibly smell him. Will Bilbo even consider the dangerous task?
